Vision Development

Toys and Games

As you'll hear us say time and time again, "Vision is learned".  In the same way that we must learn to perfectly coordinate the muscles and joints in our legs to walk and our hands to write or use scissors, our visual processing system must learn how to coordinate our eyes together, focus the crystalline lens in each eye to keep things clear, and then process all of that information and make sense of it.  How do we learn all of this?  The same way we learn everything else, through goal-oriented focus, trial and error, and well... time.

After having patients asking us about certain games they can play at home, we figured we'd make a curated list of games and toys that do a great job of promoting the development of visual processing skills! While these games can't take care of everything and are not a treatment for binocular vision and visual processing disorders, they are great for working on certain skills!  Check out our lists by age and then see the skills that each one promotes and have fun!
